I have a sweet tooth.
There…I said it.
And even after giving up almost all refined sugar over 6 years ago, I still remember my sweet palate. I still “need” a little sweet something now and again. These days, that is usually a few squares of sugar-free chocolate or fruit of some sort.
This latest creation was inspired by my husband’s step-mom’s recipe. She makes a thick berry dessert that we nicknamed “Berry Shlarp”. Not the most appealing name, but the dessert is delicious. It’s the perfect combination of light and sweet to enjoy right after a meal.
This version I created has only a few simple ingredients. I have been using chia seeds in my fruit fillings for the last few years, so it’s naturally gluten free. I prefer to use Lakanto Powdered 1:1 Monk Fruit Sweetener as it doesn’t crystallize when chilled.
It’s perfect as is, but you can top with whipped cream or add to cheesecake or ice cream.
